In an amazing show of power-hitting, Suryakumar Yadav, the dynamic batter, has made history by joining a special group of players who have hit 100 sixes in men’s T20I cricket. This fantastic achievement happened as India roared to a fantastic seven-wicket win over the West Indies in an exciting match held in Guyana on a memorable Tuesday.
Suryakumar Yadav’s bat was on fire in Guyana as he smashed four massive sixes during a stunning innings of 83 runs in the third match of the T20I series against the West Indies. By doing this, Suryakumar Yadav has become only the third male cricketer from India to achieve the special milestone of hitting 100 sixes in the shortest format of the game. This special club was earlier made up of the great players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Rohit Sharma, known for his big hits, is at the top with an incredible 182 sixes, followed closely by the great Virat Kohli with 117. Suryakumar Yadav, with his exciting batting skills, has now hit 101 sixes, showing his place among a special group of 14 male cricketers in international cricket who have gone past the magical three-figure mark of sixes.
The clash against the West Indies saw Suryakumar Yadav at his best, teaming up well with young talent Tilak Varma (49*). Together, they helped India chase down the West Indies’ target of 159/5, losing only three wickets with more than two overs to spare.
India’s win in this match has made the five-match series even more interesting, with the West Indies leading 2-1. The next two matches are set to take place in Florida on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday.
Important contributions to India’s win were made by the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav (3/28) and Axar Patel (1/24). Their disciplined bowling restricted the West Indies batting, forcing them to settle for a modest score after winning the toss and choosing to bat first.
Suryakumar Yadav’s innings remained strong even as the opening batsmen Shubman Gill (6) and Yashavi Jaiswal (1) were dismissed early. He showcased his trademark aggressive batting, taking apart the opposition bowlers with a series of boundaries. A significant part of Suryakumar’s total of 83 runs came from his boundary hits. When he was out in the 13th over, India was commanding, led by skipper Hardik Pandya (20*) and the determined Tilak Varma.
While Tilak Varma narrowly missed a second consecutive half-century in only his third international match, Suryakumar Yadav praised the young left-hander’s maturity and sees a bright future ahead for the 20-year-old in the cricketing world.
“I’m really impressed with how mature he is at such a young age,” Suryakumar Yadav acknowledged after the match. “He understands the game well and knows what he’s doing when he comes to bat. He’s mentally very strong, which is crucial when you enter the Indian dressing room and play at this level.”
In a display of unity and great teamwork, India’s cricketers have once again shown their strength on the international stage. Suryakumar Yadav’s explosive innings and excellent partnership in this exciting match have added an intriguing chapter to the rich history of cricket.
